Accommodation in Lusaka is plentiful and there are choices to suit all tastes and budgets. From Five star hotels, Well known hotel chains, Game lodges on private game reserves, to motels and quiet guesthouses in the suburbs.

  • Kafue Rd Garden Hotel On the Kafue Rd in a country setting. an ideal location for both the business traveller and the conferencing/workshop industry with facilities for up to 120 people available.   • Dream Valley Park and Lodge has just opened in the Suburbs of Lusaka and has a range of accommodation options, large established gardens and enormous pools to cool off in.

  • Bongwe Barn Guesthouse
     

  • Comfort Zone is 6km south of Lusaka just off the Kafue Rd.
     

  • Chita Lodge
     

  • Juls Guesthouse just off the Great East Rd in Roma, not far from the airport, Juls Guesthouse offers comfortable private accommodation with conference facilities for up to 30 people. Juls is also a travel agent and has a comprehensive range of sedan cars, 4x4's and buses for hire.

 

  • Mwiza Lodge  A new luxury Guesthouse  in the suburb of Chudleigh towards the airport.
     

  • Fleur de Lys B&B along the Leopards Hill Rd about 15 minutes to town. Country setting with small game park to walk in. Four beautifully appointed suites and cottages for short or long term stays.

     

 

  • Reed Mat Lodge  is well situated just off the Great East Rd (Airport Rd) - affordable and comfortable accommodation with an African flair.  Specialising in groups, students, small conference centre. Free wifi.  Single, doubles and family rooms with ethnic decor. Restaurant serving both local and international cuisine. Set in well established gardens. Close to 2 shopping malls and University.

     

  • The Wasingo Inn 
     

  • Ungweru Lodge is a comfortable guesthouse in the suburb of Chelston between Town and the Airport and has a sister lodge called Peggy Lodge which is more of an authentic African hospitality experience
     

  • Wayside Bed & Breakfast just 4km South of the City Centre

There are also many motels in and around town which offer basic but reasonably priced accommodation.

   Nearby Private Game Reserves and Country Lodges

  • Or Protea Safari Lodge about 35 minutes out on the Great North Road. Set on  well-stocked private game ranch, they have luxury chalets and  an excellent Restaurant. Well known for superb Sunday lunches.  The ranches stock most of the antelope found in the country and have game drives and walking trails through the bush. 

    There are two other country lodges within an hour’s drive of the city: 
     

  • Lechwe Lodge, which also offers game drives, night drives and fishing on the Kafue River.  
     

  • Fringilla Lodge and Farm is about 50km out on the Great North Road offering pleasant accommodation, camping, riding. Excellent Sunday lunches served from the braai in the gardens.
     

  • About 45 minutes north is the extensive Chaminuka Private Game Reserve with a luxury lodge and a wide variety of game including lion, elephant and giraffe, in untouched wilderness. The well appointed lodge also has an extensive collection of African art.
     

  • Ibis Gardens Hotel
    76 km north of Lusaka. This is a country hotel with a huge swimming pool set in 18 acres of landscaped gardens. Accommodation available in single or double rooms, studio chalets or  2 or 3 houses. Catering or self catering. Popular conference and function venue.
     

   Camping, backpackers and overlanders

The best places for CAMPING : 

  • Eureka, about 10 km out of town on the southbound Kafue Road. Shady sites, great showers and a huge thatched "sitenje" housing a well-stocked bar, pool table and cosy lounge. 


 

  • Pioneer Campsite. Very popular with overlanders. If you're heading East to South Luangwa or Malawi (or coming in from the east).
     

  • There is also a  good backpackers' lodge in the middle of Lusaka in Mulombwa Close called Lusaka Backpackers (formerly ChaChaCha)
