LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK
Where to stay There are several lodges on the lower Zambezi, all offering game viewing and relaxing opportunities. They are all reached by arrangement as access is usually by motor boat along the Zambezi. Chiawa Camp has luxury tented, en suite accommodation for 14 guests. Their speciality is gameviewing by motorboat, by open vehicle in the park, night drives, bush walks, canoeing, river cruises and angling safaris. Operating season is from May to October. Kasaka River Lodge is a beautifully situated lodge on a raised section of the Zambezi River bank with excellent views. Wooden walkways link the chalets and elephants often walk right underneath them. The River House is a spacious, fully equipped and staffed, furnished, 4 bedroom house on the banks of the Zambezi. . A dining/sitting area adjacent to a well-appointed kitchen which leads on to a porch that runs the length of the front of the house. A deck abuts the centre providing a breezy platform close to the swimming pool. Activities are Game viewing by boat, vehicle and on foot. Fishing. Canoeing, Night drives, Abseiling, Archery. Kanyema Lodge is the newest lodge in this area. Five bungalows and the romantic honeymoon suite forming the lodge, are discretely located on the river bank under the shadow of wild mangoes and huge trees. Expert guides will be at your disposal to take you on daytime photographic safaris or night excursions to observe animals while feeding, drinking or hunting.

Sausage Tree Camp offers superb comfort in a rustic setting on the banks of the River. Canoeing safaris as well as game drives and night drives, walks in the bush, birding trails and often you can just sit in your tent and watch the action!
Zambezi Kulefu Camp Deep in the game-rich Lower Zambezi National Park, there is a secluded intimate safari camp settled comfortably in the deep shade of tall riverine trees. Profoundly peaceful, eco-friendly and well appointed, the camp overlooks one of the permanent channels of the legendary Zambezi River. This extremely remote area is abundant with game including the “big Four”. There are good populations of elephant, lion, Buffalo, waterbuck, leopard, hyena, zebra, various gazelle and many bird species. Kiambi Safari developed their eco-sensitive camp in a strategically chosen area to blend into the environment, which allows our guests to benefit from the surrounding scenery, to the fullest. Situated near the confluence of the Kafue and Zambezi Rivers, Kiambi is one of the best spots for Tiger Fishing, to start a 1,2,or 3 day canoe safari or simply to partake in game viewing cruises. They offer Luxury Air Conditioned Chalets, Luxury Thatched Tented Chalets, Self catering accommodation as well as lush shady camping sites for those wishing to be enveloped by nature. Royal Zambezi Lodge has its own 3.5 kilometers of unspoiled river frontage and is flanked by a back drop of scenic mountains. Fly in to the Royal Zambezi's private air strip in the comfort of a chartered aircraft only half an hour's flight from Lusaka. Two great new Camps have recently opened, one on the River bank, Mtondo River Camp and another further up the escarpment with magnificent views of the Zambezi Shafumbi Mountain Camp. Ana Tree Lodge is located within the National Park and offers the most luxurious, warm and friendly hospitality in a desolate yet scenic environment. It has 8 raised ensuite Meru Style Tents with private balcony with a view of wildlife grazing in the plain. Alongside the Lodge lies a fast and deep channel of the Zambezi with excellent fishing -Tiger, Bream, Vundu, etc. Activities include Gameviewing by road and boat, canoeing, bushwalks, Birding and of course fishing. The Lodge is only open from April to Mid-November Mvuu Tented Lodge located in an attractive setting on the banks of the Zambezi is a fully catered camp with the option of self catering. There is also a camp site for those on a budget. Activities available are canoeing, game viewing, birding, fishing and soaking up the wonderful sunsets. Redcliff Zambezi Lodge, sited on the banks of the lower Zambezi much further down, beyond the eastern edge of the park provides an exciting fishing for the traveller seeking for a true African adventure.

Chongwe River Camp, found at the Chongwe River and Zambezi confluence, opposite Mana Pools. It has 6 chalets under the canopy of huge Acacia trees. Unparalleled tiger fishing area, with great game and bird viewing opportunities. Zambezi Breezers Lodge and Campsite offers affordable camping and chalets as well as fishing excursions and game viewing by boat. Kayila Safari Camp is on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi River in its own 10,000Ha private concession, overlooking the Mana Pools National Park. The thatched central lounge and dining area with a swimming pool and patio area is centred in a cluster of accommodation designed to suit all needs: From our beautifully appointed twin and double thatched en-suite lodges, to a romantic honeymoon suite with sunken bath, the famous Kayila tree house suite, an exciting double room built 30 feet up an African Sausage Tree and a comfortable family room comprising a double and two singles beds. Tamarindtree Zambezi River Lodge The best way to experience the magnificence of this river is to take a canoeing trip down the channels. Riverhorse Safaris, Safari Par Excellence and Karibu Safaris runs popular canoeing safaris with limited participation camping along the Zambezi river and into the Lower Zambezi National Park. Cha Cha Cha Backpackers run an excellent value safari through the park, camping along the way.
Safari Par Excellence do 2, 3, 4 and five day trips. Very comfortable camps are erected along the river in the national park about 15 - 20 kms apart. More comfortable and picturesque is Gwabi Lodge on the banks of the Kafue River, close to its confluence with the Zambezi.
