Formally, Lusaka International Airport, Zambia’s main airport is located about 15kms northeast of the central business district of Lusaka, off the Great East Road. Not to be confused with Lusaka City Airport, which is within the city for small aircraft only. There is a domestic and International terminal. Visas can now be paid by credit card.

Transfer to the city – Taxis are the only way to get into the city, no trains as yet, but distances are fairly short, taking only about 15 to 20 minutes to the city. There is also a mini-bus service that passes by the airport, but only serves a single route to the city centre via Great East Road.  Cars can be hired but this should be done in advance requesting to have a car available as most car hire companies are based in the city.

Livingstone

HARRY MWANGA NKUMBULA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Formerly Livingstone Airport, the recently upgrade airport  is named after Harry Mwanga Nkumbula, who was the leader of the Africa National Congress in Zambia. It is the closest airport to the Victoria Falls. It has international status and is located on the northern edge of Livingstone, Zambia.

The airport has recently undergone a major expansion and a new international terminal added to service the growing number of people wanting to visit the area. There are now premier lounges and complimentary WiFi throughout the building. Visas can now be paid by credit card.

A new tar road has been built adding a second access route from Livingstone and the outlying Zambezi Lodges.

Most of the bigger hotels and lodges have shuttles to and from the airport, otherwise taxis are the only way into town, which is very close.
