THREE RIVERS CAMP
Three Rivers Camp is set at the confluence of the Luangwa, Kapamba and Lusangazi rivers, in a remote Southern area of South Luangwa. Its secluded location offers a quiet and immersive safari experience, surrounded by rivers and untouched wilderness.
The camp features five well-designed tents, each with a spacious bedroom and a semi-open en-suite bathroom. Every tent includes a private elevated deck with daybeds that can be converted into star beds at night, giving guests the option to sleep indoors or outside under the night sky. The star-bed platform is directly connected to the tent via a secure walkway. Bathrooms offer both indoor and outdoor shower options.
Meals are served outdoors on the deck of the main lounge, allowing guests to dine while enjoying the surrounding wilderness. Activities at the camp include guided game drives and walking safaris, offering different perspectives on the area’s wildlife and landscapes. A small but refreshing plunge pool has recently been added, providing a welcome place to cool off during the warmer hours of the day. A stay at Three Rivers Camp pairs naturally with time at its sister property, Kafunta River Lodge, creating a varied and well-balanced safari experience.

Kafunta Safaris is an owner-run safari business and the owners, Ron & Anke Cowan, have been in the Zambian safari industry for more than 25 years. Kafunta River Lodge was opened in 1998 and is the Cowan’s home.
Many of the staff who helped to build the lodge were trained in other roles and still work at Kafunta River Lodge or one of our satellite camps Three Rivers Camp and Island Bush Camp as part of the Kafunta team. Today, Kafunta Safaris employs 40 to 70 staff.
Kafunta Safaris prides itself on providing a warm welcome and personalised service to our guests. We pay attention to the details so that our guests can relax and enjoy their dream African safari. Kafunta Safaris recognises the importance of responsible tourism and the need to protect this unique ecosystem and support the community.
Kafunta Safaris supports three local programs: Conservation South Luangwa, a non-profit community-based organisation committed to conservation; Project Luangwa, a charity set up to help local communities to improve their long-term economic prospects; and Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust, an NGO focused on teaching local youth about the importance of wildlife and conservation.
