With four private tented suits all with stunning river views, you are surrounded by wild nature. Your secluded safari tent has a deck leading onto a plunge pool, which doubles as a hot tub under the stars. An extra length King-size bed or twin beds ensure a luxurious sleep as you drift off to the sounds of hippos grunting and lions calling in the distance.
And in the morning, you’ll see who visited in the night on the camera traps. From serval to hippo, hyaena to lion, leopard to porcupine, MAWIMBI is alive with wildlife passing through the camp… It’s a privilege to see.

Designed by the new owners who believe that nature has the power to transform us, to ground us, and to reconnect us with what really matters, MAWIMBI has been created for those who appreciate nature in its raw, unfiltered form. MAWIMBI reopens in 2025, after taking over the concession from Bernard Calonne and Tom Heinecken who fell in love with the beauty and remoteness of the Kafue National Park and set up Mawimbi, offering canoeing experiences on the river from 2010.
Born from a deep love of the bush, MAWIMBI Bush Camp is the result of a simple idea: that meaningful travel should not only offer unforgettable experiences, but also support the people and places that make them possible.
