Project Description

Located in a prime game viewing area deep inside the park; Lion Camp is a stylish, unique & independent 18-bed safari lodge.

Looking out onto an oxbow lagoon and open plain, luxurious canvas and thatch chalets are built on raised wooden platforms and linked to each other and the main area by a raised wooden boardwalk.

Your chalet will have either a four poster king-size double bed or twin beds and a walk-in mosquito net. En-suite with a shower and toilet, each chalet also has a private deck which overlooks the open plain in front

The vibrant main area consists of a bar, swimming pool, secluded lounge areas, library and small gift shop. There is also a central boma fireplace, a great place to relax and unwind after your safari activities.

Packages available which include safari activities, accommodation, meals, bar, park fees & return Mfuwe airport transfers. Flights are excluded, though we can book seats on Proflights scheduled domestic service.

Since re-opening in 2007, Lion Camp has earned a reputation for providing personalised service and quality guiding at an affordable price.

The warm and welcoming atmosphere at the lodge is a result of the ’human element’. The owner, long-term management and camp staff have worked together for 10+ years. Everyone involved with the camp feels immense pride in the place and cares about great hospitality.

The existing site was identified in 1980, and a simple camp was constructed from grass & thatch in the heart of a rich game-viewing area. In 1997 the site was re-tendered and won by a syndicate of South African investors who designed and constructed a camp that was raised up on a wooden platform. After operating for a few years the lodge was sold to the current owner, who completed an extensive refurbishment, adding a swimming pool, central boma, upgraded kitchen and unique and colourful interior decor by Stephen Falcke.
