Project Description
ISLAND BUSH CAMP
Get back to nature and experience unspoilt African wilderness at Island Bush Camp, a rustic bush camp set on the banks of the Luangwa River. Located in the heart of the South Luangwa National Park, the camp enjoys stunning views of the river and the length of the Luangwa Valley. With just 5 chalets, this remote camp offers complete seclusion and specialises in walking safaris.
Each chalet is constructed from natural materials and, raised off the ground on a wooden platform, boasting amazing views of the Luangwa River. Walk-in mosquito nets cover the comfortable beds and the en-suite bathroom, which is open to the sky, includes a hot water bucket shower, cold running water and flush toilets.
The shady central lounge is a great place to relax after a game drive and take in the amazing sunrises and sunsets. The bush camp kitchen provides delicious meals cooked on a wood-burning stove and meals are served in the dining area or under the African stars. Guests can sit around the campfire and enjoy a refreshing beverage and swap bush stories.
The South Luangwa is the home of the walking safari and this is the speciality of Island Bush Camp. Experience a safari from a new perspective and see the African wildlife and bush as the original explorers did. Guests walk in small groups and are escorted by an armed official wildlife scout and our experienced guides.
In addition to the bush walks and game drives, the camp proposes to spend time in the Elephant photographic hide set next to a waterhole. A perfect spot to observe and photograph families of elephants at close range.
