Shawa Luangwa by Green Safaris has begun a new chapter with the introduction of two new Premium Units, adding more space and privacy while retaining the intimate character that has always defined the camp.

Overlooking the Luangwa River near the Nsefu Sector of South Luangwa National Park, Shawa has always been about connection to the landscape, wildlife and people who know this remarkable part of Zambia best.
The two Premium Units have been created with that same philosophy in mind. Designed for two guests each, they offer generous interiors, additional privacy and open views that keep the Luangwa landscape firmly at the heart of the stay. With their addition, Shawa Luangwa now comprises five main tents and two Premium Units, preserving the small-scale feel of camp while giving guests another way to experience it.

Days can begin aboard one of the solar-powered electric Land Cruisers, heading quietly into the park on a Silent Safari. With less engine noise, the sounds of the bush become part of the drive, from bird calls overhead to the movement of wildlife through the vegetation.
For those wanting to experience the landscape on foot, guided walking safaris reveal another side of South Luangwa, drawing attention to tracks, plants, birds and the smaller details often missed from a vehicle. Back at camp, time can be spent beside the plunge pool, enjoying a bush meal or simply watching the Luangwa River pass by.

The river itself remains central to the Shawa experience. Guests cross by pontoon or boat to access game-viewing areas, making the journey into the park part of the adventure rather than simply a transfer.
