The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that Zambia has already achieved its mid-year goal for international arrivals: the target to reach by June 2025 was 1.1 million visitors and 1.2 million travellers have already come into the country. This bodes well to reach the overall annual goal of 2.4 million arrivals. The ministry accredits some of this success to international campaigns with BBC Storytelling as well a partnership with Expedia that targets the lucrative British, American and German markets.
The average length of stay has also increased from three to five days. Meanwhile, hotel room occupancy is also up with the average in ever-popular Livingstone being 70%. The national occupancy average has soared from around 40% in 2023 to 55% in mid-2025.
