ROYAL SOLWEZI HOTEL
Celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013, Kaingo Camp is the creation of the Shenton family, which has a proud history of three generations of wildlife conservation in southern Africa. Shenton Safaris is the smallest independent safari operation in South Luangwa National Park.
Kaingo Camp is located deep within the park, on the banks of the Luangwa River, in the very best game viewing area extremely rich in all kind of wildlife, especially big cats.
The camp consists of six chalets, entirely refurbished, with stunning furniture and soaring skylights. Each chalet features an outdoor bathtub along with en suite facilities. Private decks are overlooking the river offering uninterrupted views of game coming in to drink.
Shenton Safaris’ trademark is the ingenious network of photographic hides offering thrilling opportunities for close-up observation of the wildlife and bird-life. Most renowned are the Hippo Hide and the Elephant Hide, attracting wildlife photographers and documentary film-makers. Also quite unique is the Carmine Bee-Eater Hide which is set in September, directly opposite a colony of these magnificently coloured birds.
Visits to these photographic hides are part of the three daily game viewing activities offered by the camps, alongside game drive and walking safaris.
A stay at the Shentons’ wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Mwamba Bush Camp, a very intimate four-chalet camp, only a bush walk away from Kaingo Camp.

Royal Solwezi Hotel is one of the landmark hospitality businesses in Solwezi, a rapidly growing mining and commercial centre in Zambia’s North Western Province. Solwezi’s economy is anchored in copper and gold mining, with major operations such as the Kansanshi mine and Lumwana mine driving investment and demand for quality accommodation in the region.
The Royal Solwezi Hotel was established in 2007 and officially opened by Zambia’s then President – the Honourable Rupiah Banda on 27 August 2007. It was developed to meet the growing need for premium lodging and event facilities as Solwezi expanded alongside the mining boom. Since its inception, the hotel has become one of the most prestigious hospitality venues in the province.
Strategically located along Old Chingola Road, just a short drive from the town’s central business district and key mining operations, the hotel serves both business travellers and leisure visitors. Its proximity to mining companies makes it a preferred choice for professionals, consultants, and executives visiting Solwezi for work.
The property features 48 well appointed rooms, including standard, deluxe, and presidential suites, plus 14 self catering apartments for extended stays. Guests enjoy modern amenities such as high speed Wi Fi, a restaurant serving local and international cuisine, bars, outdoor pool, fitness facilities, and flexible conference spaces capable of hosting up to 250 delegates.
Over the years, the Royal Solwezi Hotel has grown in reputation for warm hospitality, comfort, and convenience. It not only supports the region’s tourism and business sectors but also contributes to local employment and the broader socio economic transformation of Solwezi as a key mining hub in Zambia.
