The company was established by a team with many years of overland camping, safari, and tourism experience. Having spent countless nights in the bush and travelled thousands of kilometres across some of Africa’s most remote destinations, we understand what makes the difference between an average rental vehicle and one that genuinely enhances your adventure.
From the outset, we made a conscious decision to invest in a fleet of Toyota Hilux 4×4 automatic vehicles, all built to the same premium specification. Every vehicle is prepared using equipment we have personally tested and trusted on our own expeditions, ensuring consistency, reliability, and comfort for every client.

Each Hilux is fitted with upgraded suspension specifically suited to Zambia’s demanding road conditions and equipped with the latest Alu-Cab rooftop tents, launched in 2026, providing one of the most comfortable and durable camping systems available. Marula 4×4 Rental was founded in 2026 by entrepreneur Robert after relocating from South Africa to Zambia and recognising a growing demand for premium, fully equipped self-drive 4×4 camping vehicles.
Drawing on years of experience in the outdoor and tourism industries, Robert has built a successful camping equipment business in South Africa and one of the region’s leading luxury travel companies, specialising in bespoke safaris across Southern and East Africa. Through these ventures, he gained a deep understanding of what discerning travellers expect—quality, reliability, expert advice, and exceptional service.
