Project Description
KALWELWA BUSHCAMP
Kalwelwa Bushcamp is a tented camp situated within Chief Kanyama’s private wildlife area. It’s a prime birding destination, where one of Zambia’s largest wet evergreen forests meet endless Kalahari sands grasslands and marshes, Marquesia dry evergreen forest and miombo woodlands. Most of Mwinilunga’s specials have healthy populations here, including the sought-after Grimwood’s Longclaw. Many of the specials occur around camp while the plains complex is a few minutes driving from camp. Mwinilunga town, Chitunta Plain and the Source of the Zambezi are just over an hour’s drive from here.
ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION
The camp has 5 large ensuite safari tents with a kitchen and dining room. The camp is in principle a self-catering camp but with sufficient notice, we can also provide meals. Booking is required! After booking we’ll send you a route description and a (birders’ ) guide to the camp and the area.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
The camp is owned by Frank Willems, Zambia-based expert guide for birding and ecologist (www.frankwillems.org). Mwinilunga is his favourite place in Zambia.
