HIPPO LODGE

Situated on the East bank of the Kafue River within the Northern sector of the Kafue National Park. A wide range of habitats provides beautiful African backdrops to the greatest species diversity.

ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation consists of privately located stone thatched houses with breathtaking views of the Kafue River.

Our Stony house is ideal for bigger family groups and can be used on a self-catering basis.

At Lunga Island, there are six en-suite safari tents with all linen provided. Central to the tents a self-contained kitchen fully furnished for self-catering purposes.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Hippo was one of the first camps to be built in the Kafue National Park.

Hippo Mine was the first copper mine in Zambia, discovered in 1903, and now a National Heritage Site. A guided tour of the derelict mine and its artefacts are a fascinating historical insight into the endeavours and lives of early pioneers. Mining ceased in 1973.
