Recent guests staying at The River Club, Livingstone, Zambia have made a very kind donation of solar study lamps to each child in the top class at Simonga School. Geoff and Bonnie Morgan from Australia with the support of Sandy Houston from USA made it possible that each student in the class received their own solar lamp in order to complete their homework in their homes at night.

The initiative, instigated by the Morgans who stayed at The River Club last year, sought out the enormously practical solar lights from Australia. Sandy Houston sponsored the first class batch in December 2013 and the students received their lights at the beginning of the academic year.

“We are very grateful to our guests for supplying and sponsoring these solar study lamps. The children were absolutely thrilled with their gifts as it is often difficult for them to do their homework or study from home after sunset. We now need to ensure that we can purchase a steady supply for the rest of the school and are therefore currently raising funds for the next set of lights”-  said The River Club’s owner, Peter Jones.

Situated just 18 km upstream from Victoria Falls, The River Club is the perfect base from which to explore myriad adventures, in addition to these local village visits – from tours of Livingstone Town and the Zambian side of the Falls, to tiger fishing (catch-and-release) and game drives in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. The River Club also recently opened the new Princess Royal Suite, offering the perfect experience for a small family or group of six friends looking for exceptional food and hospitality on the banks of the Zambezi.
