Classic Zambia is a collection of owner-operated safari camps and mobile safaris in the heart of Zambia’s most pristine wildlife areas. Our well-established exclusive bush camps are located in both the Lower Zambezi and Kafue National Park whilst also offering tailor-made mobile safaris and wildlife documentary and film crew support.

Founded in 2019, Chula Island Camp is located on Katengahumba Island, separated from the mainland by the famed canoeing area, the ‘Discovery’ channel. This secretive and private Island gives unparalleled views over the Zambezi River. The wilderness experience and wildlife viewing are second to none. This island is like stepping foot into Jurassic Park… It is full of hidden lagoons and open dambos and the game is unbelievable; we see leopard, lion, hyena, buffalo herds and lots of elephants to mention just a few highlights. There is actually no need to venture further than this island paradise!

Chula means frog in Goba – the local language in this area. It is is our nearest camp to Jeki Airfield and the atmosphere on the Island is very unique. Chula Island even looks different with a higher density of Natal Mahogany trees and sandy beaches…the perfect contrast and accompaniment to Kutali Camp further downstream.
