Shackletons is situated in the heart of what anglers know as “Tiger Country”, with exceptional fishing grounds located less than five minutes by boat from the lodge. The Upper Zambezi is internationally recognised for its trophy tigerfish, one of Africa’s most exciting freshwater game fish. Renowned for their speed, power and acrobatic fights, tigerfish attract anglers from around the world seeking a truly memorable fishing experience. The river system surrounding Shackletons also supports a variety of other sought-after species, including nembwe, bream and vundu catfish.
The lodge caters for anglers of all skill levels and specialises in fly fishing, spinning, lure fishing and conventional fishing techniques. Experienced guides help guests make the most of their time on the water, whether they are targeting trophy tigerfish, refining their fly-fishing skills or introducing younger family members to the sport.
Fishing excursions take place aboard purpose-built boats designed for comfort and safety. Guided by knowledgeable local experts with extensive experience of the Upper Zambezi, guests have access to productive channels, lagoons and floodplain systems throughout the region.
While fishing remains the main attraction, the lodge’s spectacular location offers much more. The surrounding floodplains support a rich variety of wildlife and bird species, making Shackletons an ideal destination for those wishing to experience the beauty and serenity of this unique ecosystem. River views, breathtaking sunsets and peaceful moments on the deck ensure that non-anglers can enjoy the experience just as much as those casting a line.
Combining luxury accommodation, personalised service, outstanding fishing opportunities and a stunning natural setting, Shackletons Tiger Fishing Lodge has earned its reputation as one of Zambia’s premier freshwater fishing destinations.
