Zambia and Zimbabwe, We are ready to host the 20th session of the UNWTO General Assembly
During the 19th Session of the UNWTO General Assembly held in Seoul South Korea, Zambia and Zimbabwe won the bid to co-host the 20th Session of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly from the 24th to the 29th of August 2013 in the towns of Livingstone on the Zambian side and Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side.
Since the announcement, Zambia has been preparing the country for the General Assembly, from upgrading road infrastructure, airport facilities and re-enforcing security to ensuring the smooth running when delegates enter Zambia through to their stay in the refurbished accommodation establishments.
Zambia and Zimbabwe have put in place a Gratis visa for the delegates including those accompanying them, which is valid for 30 days from date of entry. This will allow for unrestricted free movement between the two countries.
A number of pre – post and social activities have been lined up for the delegates and their accompanying persons. Included here are tours to visit the Mighty Victoria Falls, Walking with the Lions, Game viewing in the Musi-ao-tunya National Park, Bungee Jumping at one of the highest bungee jump in the world, traditional and cultural performances, Boat Cruises, etc.

It is good that Zambia is part of this great event as a co host nation, It is evidently clear that the assembly will attract visitors to other parts of Zambia like the eastern province which is home to the famous south Luangwa national park and I feel it is imperative that community and privately owned media are utilized to create economic gains for people in these areas that are likely to attract tourists.
