The proposal for Atulye suggests an organic space to blend into the island’s lush riverine forest.
Green Safaris is planning a new six-seater private dining space on Livingstone Island at the Victoria Falls. Designed as an exclusive ‘add-on’ to existing options such as lunch and high tea, it will be called Atulye, which means ‘to eat’ in the Chitonga language spoken by the Tonga people.
Livingstone Island is named after Dr David Livingstone, who is widely considered the first white man to see the Falls. It is a large rocky outcrop in the Zambezi river above the precipice and is swathed in riverine forest. The island is generally accessible throughout the year unless water levels and current strength are very high.
Each session on the Livingstone Island is limited to 32 guests and must be booked ahead of time. Atulye will provide an exclusive area for a single booking of up to six people at a flat rate during one of the existing breezer, lunch or afternoon tea slots. The Green Safaris team believes it will be popular for special occasions such as milestone birthdays, proposals and anniversaries.
WHERE TO STAY
Tongabezi is Green Safaris’ stunning riverside lodge at the Victoria Falls. This is also an ideal option if you want to close to swim in Devil’s Pool. Read more here.

Livingstone Island is the large outcrop to the left. Accessible most of the year, it offers an incredible experience close the edge of the Falls.
