2020 was a big year at The Bushcamp Company with renovations and refurbishments taking place at Mfuwe Lodge. Renowned for its welcoming and relaxed atmosphere set in the South Luangwa National Park, Mfuwe Lodge has not been forgotten in the makeover. We caught up with the Bushcamp Company to find out what’s new to look forward to when visiting the lodge…

Mfuwe Lodge

The main living and dining areas have been refurnished with comfortable seating, beautiful botanical print cushions, African inspired artworks and unique décor touches.

The new bar has acquired an extensive Gin menu.

The deck has been extended over the lagoon, for guests to make the most of armchair game viewing, outdoor dining, and a shady place to relax by the swimming pool.

Mfuwe Lodge has 18 air-conditioned thatched chalets, with convertible beds, opening onto their own private decks with opportunities to see game life meandering past.

New features include see-through sliding trellidors, (so you can really feel closer to nature), contemporary soft furnishings with bespoke touches and attention to detail that reflects the natural environment and beautiful wildlife photos by Isak Pretorius.

The new Phil Berry Centre is situated in a secluded area of the garden near the infamous Wild Mango Tree.  The air-conditioned library and studio offer suitable spaces for a variety of events.

The rooms can be configured to accommodate the needs of individual groups. It has a peaceful and spacious ambience with glass sliding doors opening onto a beautiful outdoor deck.

There are blackout curtains for presentations.

Another exciting addition at Mfuwe Lodge is the Director’s House. One of the original buildings on the grounds of Mfuwe Lodge has been converted into a spacious private interconnecting two-bedroom, two-bathroom thatched villa with a fenced garden, covered dining deck and swimming pool.  Perfect for a family or guests who would like their own private space, it is in close proximity and within walking distance to the main Mfuwe Lodge, allowing easy access to the Bush-Spa, main swimming pool, curio shop, etc.
