Project Description
SAMALA CAMP
Samala Camp is located on the banks of the fast-flowing Mwaleshi River, whose headwaters are in the Mukungule Game Management Area bordering North Luangwa National Park.
ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION
Samala Camp is an innovative community-owned tourism venture by the Mukungule CRB, built on their behalf by the North Luangwa Conservation Programme.
Surrounded by tall Miombo woodland, forested hills and grassy dambos, Samala Camp consists of two walk-in safari tents with two single beds, en suite outdoor shower with a view.
There is a spacious communal kitchen that has a gas stove and solar-powered fridge/freezer with kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery provided.
The communal open plan dining room has a braai area with a view over the river. There is also an exclusive campsite with outdoor shower, ablution facilities, braai area and shady campsite next to the Mwaleshi River. This campsite can be booked exclusively for up to six people maximum.
Daily excursions into the National Park are highly recommended where a game drive along the Luangwa River would ensure plenty of crocodile and hippo viewing or watching an array of animal species that come down to drink at the river’s edge in the dry season.
North Luangwa is also the only National Park where reintroduced Black Rhinos occur and the possibility exists to see them whilst passing through the North Luangwa rhino sanctuary.
