Lilayi is situated 15km south of Lusaka within a private game reserve. Formally known as ‘Lilayi Lodge’ this newly refurbished Zambian gem has both beautiful accommodation and a completely re-launched restaurant with an Executive Chef and Sommelier. Positioned on a 650-hectare corner of indigenous bushveld within the Miller family farm, the game reserve has over 27 different types of mammals including Giraffe, Eland and Zebra as well as over 300 species of birds.
The bar, verandah and deck area around the pool create the perfect atmosphere in which to be wowed by the creative cuisine and 5-star service of the restaurant. The Lilayi restaurant is creating much excitement and intrigue. It focuses on making use of local produce sourced from the farm to create its exquisite dishes. The in-house wine cellar is stocked with an extensive wine selection that caters for all tastes. Lilayi is one of Lusaka’s prime wine destinations with regular good food and wine events being held.
Based at the entrance of Lilayi is the Elephant Nursery run by Game Rangers International with support from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. This sanctuary cares for orphaned elephant calves with the intention of rehabilitating and eventually releasing them back into the wild. The young calves can be seen daily between 11:30 – 13:00 from the specially designed viewing platform.
Lilayi has been transformed into a destination where people are finding the peace and relaxation that they are so eagerly seeking. It is a delightful surprise to many that such a place exists so close to Lusaka.
