Perched high above the Luangwa River, Time + Tide Kakuli offers impressive vistas of the river's many visitors below. Designed to celebrate the panoramic scenery, a stay at Kakuli is a truly awe-inspiring experience.

Freshly redesigned in 2018, the suites offer comfort in all seasons, making it the hidden gem of the Secret Season. The suites are thoughtfully appointed to ensure every guest enjoys their experience. A two-bedroom, two-bathroom family suite is perfect for friends and families creating lifelong memories together.

As well as an exciting base for walking and game drives in the peak season, it is the only true bush camp open in Luangwa’s ‘Secret Season’ 20 Jan – 3 April for their Rivers and Rainbows safaris. At this time of the year, the river is high and guests can experience both walking and boating safaris. Kakuli is famous for leopard and lion sightings, the abundance of resident hippos and the spectacular views from the four tents over the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa Rivers.

Venturing to the remotest parts of the continent, Time + Tide’s family of safari properties spans Zambia and Madagascar. We offer a modern-day explorer the luxury of time and space and the chance to feel fully alive.

Original founders, Norman Carr and the Liebenberg family, are credited as leaders in responsible tourism. We have over 80 years of combined experience in the space. With the opening of Time + Tide Miavana, we honour these legacies by bringing the same ethos to Madagascar.

Across land and sea, our people take extraordinary care in sharing our deep appreciation for the land, wildlife and culture. We’ve pioneered a more grounded tourism experience, rooted in conservation and synonymous with Africa’s history of ecotourism and preservation. Stop. Look closer. Touch the Earth.
