Ila Safari Lodge is a brand new (2016) luxury eco-lodge located right on the threshold of Kafue National Park in Zambia. The lodge is set on the banks of the Kafue River in an area of abundant wildlife.
Ten state-of-the-art luxury safari tents are strung out along the riverbank, each situated on their own individual deck. Each tent has been individually designed to mesh with the flora surrounding it providing shade, privacy and your very own piece of Kafue wilderness. The interiors, as well as the private decks, are furnished in chic, modern African style and every comfort has been considered.
Our central boma is best described by the phrase ‘eco-friendly meets dynamic design’ and is the showpiece of our property. Designed from inception to provide top-notch facilities for 24 guests, this half-moon shaped building boasts a stunning modern pool, an open-air restaurant, bar and lounge with 180-degree views out over the river, a boat jetty and a fire pit area for after dinner gatherings under the stars.
Kafue is renowned for it diversity of wildlife and pristine untouched wilderness. We offer game drives, boat cruises, walking safaris, fishing, visits to our community farm and back of house tours to showcase our ‘eco’ credentials. Ila Safari Lodge is the proud owners of Zambia’s first electronic Land Rover (eLandy) and also operate an electronic boat (eBoat). Amongst other ‘green’ endeavours we also operate 100% on solar and run our own biogas plant.
About the Company
Ila Safari Lodge is the first lodge to be constructed by parent company Green Safaris.
Sustainable and responsible tourism forms the core of the Green Safaris ethos. We are fully committed to preserving the pristine areas we operate in and working in conjunction with the communities surrounding us.
Green Safaris are the proud owners of Zambia’s first electric Land Rover (eLandy)! We run this vehicle alongside our other game drive vehicles and plan to expand our fleet in the coming years. We also own an electric boat (eBoat) for silent safaris on water.
We use ‘green’ technology wherever possible to reduce our environmental footprint. We harness the suns energy to generate 100% of our electricity needs, as well as to heat and pump water. We ferment our waste to generate biogas.
Our construction method of choice is eco-friendly sandbag building and we are well on the road to being completely Carbon Neutral. We build around the natural environment with care, uprooting and repotting trees and shrubs where necessary.
At Green Safaris we invest in our people and provide a wide range of training from the interactive and highly recognized Lobster Ink hospitality training system, through official First Aid training and down to specialist onsite workshops and on the job training.
