BOARD
 The
Zambia Tourism Board is an autonomous statutory body that implements
all Government Policies on Tourism.
It was created for the purpose of promoting
Zambia as an attractive tourist destination and also facilitating and co-ordinating at the
national level all development activities of the Tourism Industry
FUNCTIONS
Facilitation
We facilitate all tourism operators in the country and also assist those
individuals and organisations wishing to make new investments in Tourism.
Our experience and expertise exist through:

Advisory
services i.e. Zambia Tourism Board advises clients of all issues relating to
tourism development (type, capacity and location of development) and marketing

Consultancy
Services to include Investment appraisals and analysis
-
Licensing of
all tourism enterprises
-
Drawing up of
area development plans
-
Liaising with
all relevant institutions on matters concerning tourism, development and marketing

Market research
-
Product
development
Information
The Zambia
Tourism Board collects and computes the following
information which is disseminated to the tourism industry and the general public:

Tourist
arrivals in Zambia indicating source markets, purpose of visit, age etc.
-
Revenue
generated by the tourism industry
-
Room and bed
occupancies by Province and by major tourist destination areas such as National Parks
-
Rooms and beds
available in the country and by province
-
Total number of
people employed in the tourism sector
-
Investment into
the sector, and
-
Inventory of
other tourist facilities such as boats, safari vehicles etc.
Regulation
We formulate, review and enforce operating standards of all tourism
enterprises.
Zambia
Tourism Board has an inspectorate wing which inspects tourism
enterprises to ensure strict adherence to standard requirement before any license is
issued.
Promotion
and
Marketing
We ensure that Zambia is projected as an attractive Tourist destination -
the logo "Zambia...the Real Africa" befits the
type of tourist product on offer.
The promotion and marketing of Zambia is done both at home and abroad. To
facilitate our marketing efforts, on the international scene, ZTB has offices in Zambia's
prime tourist generating markets of the United Kingdom, United States and South Africa.
The Zambia Tourism Board also has representation in potential markets of Italy
and Australia through General Sales Agents. Further, Zambia Tourism Board has
opened an information Centre in Budapest, Hungary to cater for the emerging market of
Eastern Europe. Locally, the Zambia Tourism Board has office s in Lusaka and
Livingstone.
In terms of investment into the Tourism Sector, Zambia offers a conducive
investment climate.
