The Heart of the Kafue.
Kasabushi Campsite is located within the Wild Zone of the Central Kafue National Park. The camp is only 500m off the Spinal Road giving self-drivers immediate access to the park around them and the various game-loops. The Kafue River flows right past the camp with a lovely view of the palm-covered island opposite.
The Spinal Road is a good gravel road within the park that links the northern and southern sectors. It runs down the west side of the Kafue River from the M9 (Lusaka-Mongu road) to Lake Itezhi-Tezhi. It’s a 160km all-weather road that allows self-drivers to explore and enjoy the diverse scenery of the beautiful KNP; savannah grasslands, granite outcrops, Miombo woodlands and of course the Kafue River.
Our Campsite is proving very popular because of its design, attention to detail and stunning location. Campers appreciate the touches that make it comfortable whilst the space and setting allow them to feel totally at one with the surrounding bush.
We’ve also built quite funky ablution facilities. There are two water-fall showers with lots of space to enjoy them under the open skies but then change under cover and they both have a large mirror! There is a separate toilet area with smart basins and mirrors and all facilities have hot and cold running water from brushed brass Ixia taps! Even washing-up is a pleasure with the lovely river view and again there are hot and cold taps. We include braai stands and fire-wood and all our pitches have a designated fireplace. Our helpful camp attendants are there to assist with tent erection, bringing fire-wood, setting and clearing fire places and washing-up.
All the camping pitches have their own space by the river for peace, privacy and trees for shade. Handmade (by Andy) wooden tables and stools provide useful but natural furniture.
Kasabushi Campsite has already been enjoyed by hundreds of self-drivers who prefer to camp within the KNP and have the flexibility to drive and explore at their leisure.
We look forward to welcoming you one day!
