The western facing Lodge enjoys spectacular sunsets across the lake and is the only Lodge in the Chete National Park.

(see listings for camp sites)

There is also a campsite called The Clubhouse, for campers or backpackers, perched on the tip of the Siansowa peninsula near Sinazongwe, with spectacular views, in a private game reserve in the heart of Tonga Land,

   House Boating on Lake Kariba

House Boating on the lake has been a big tourist draw in Zimbabwe up till recently and now Zambia has to offer some of those services:

Bateleur Houseboat is moored at Eagles Rest Resort, Siavonga.  Bateleur offers charter cruises on the Lake from one night to ten nights in duration.  She sleeps 14 passengers and has 4 crew members.  On the lower deck are 3 cabins (one with double bed and en-suite bathroom) accommodating 6 passengers, 2 public toilets/showers, a lounge, a fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker, deep freezers and 220 volt electricity on-board.  There is also a large pool/sun deck with a fully operational Jacuzzi to cool off from the heat of the day.  On the upper deck is the Captain’s bar and a large comfortable lounge area.  Day seating on the upper deck converts to sleeping accommodation at night (sleeping an additional 8 passengers), each bed is fully mosquito proofed with large walk-in type mosquito nets.  Two tender boats are normally towed behind the houseboat for fishing and/or sightseeing.  Tariffs are structured depending on the nature and length of the charter but normally include a basic rate for the houseboat with catering quoted separately.  Extras include the bar and tender boat fuel (charged according to usage).

Matusadona House Boat offers three to five-day fishing/cruising trips with a crew of three and accommodates up to six guests in style. Tarrif includes all meals and an ample bar. Included in the itinerary is a stopover at Kota Kota Game Reserve for lunch and a game drive. A tender boat is towed behind for forays to the shore.

Hooligan Houseboat does all day trips on the lake with lunch and sundowners.

Cipembere Camping Boat is available for groups of up to ten, sleeping casually on deck on matresses and hammocks. It has a built in barbecue, toilets and shower. A smaller boat is towed behind. Self catering and full catering tariffs available. Great fun. (See listings for Adventures)

There is also good accommodation in the town of Sinazongwe 120 km down the lake from Siavonga.

The Southern Belle operated by Protea Hotels is one of the largest houseboats in Southern Africa located on Lake Kariba, Zambia which is Africa's largest man made dam; 226km long and in places up to 40 km wide. The Southern Belle has three decks offering 22 en-suite cabins as well as a  conference room for up to 40 people, lobby, sundry shop, restaurant and bar, top deck with bar and a swimming pool.  Ideal for both leisure and business cruises with spectacular views, stunning sunsets as well as a range of activities or wonderful relaxing holidays just soaking up the sunshine.
